The Challenge: Water Scarcity in Zvimba

In the heart of Mashonaland West province, Zimbabwe, lies Makwiramiti Village—a community of 98 households facing a daily struggle for access to clean, safe drinking water. This fundamental human right remains a distant dream for many in this small village.

The absence of a reliable water source not only impacts health and hygiene but also perpetuates a cycle of hardship, particularly for women and children who bear the burden of fetching water from distant, often contaminated, sources.

The Zvimba district, like many rural areas in Zimbabwe, grapples with significant water challenges. Communities often rely on unprotected water sources, leading to prevalent waterborne diseases. The installation of a borehole will mitigate these risks, offering a lifeline of health and dignity to the people of Makwiramiti Village.

About Mike Dube

Mike Dube is the co-founder of Vimbisopay Private Limited and the community-based organization "Well of Hope." For years, he has dedicated his life to working with grassroots communities across Zimbabwe, addressing their most pressing challenges.

His experiences have shown him the profound impact that basic necessities, like clean water, have on fostering peace and stability within a community. This conviction led him to write his book, "The Architecture Of Peace"—a personal account of life's hardships, experiences, and a pathway towards peace.

Today, Mike is extending this architecture of peace to Makwiramiti Village, combining his mission with a tangible solution: clean water through a solar-powered borehole.
